Alison L. Bird | Tjong & Hsia LLP

Ms. Bird is a corporate transactional attorney with a focus on technology and licensing transactions, commercial and software contracts, data privacy and internet law. She advises clients — large and small, in a wide range of sectors, including fintech, adtech, edtech, HR-tech, real estate, consumer goods, leisure, finance and publishing.

As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), Ms. Bird is particularly well-versed in advising corporate clients on transactions involving privacy and data security. She has helped them to navigate a variety of U.S. privacy laws such as the California Consumer Protection Act, the New York Shield Act, New York State Department of Financial Services Cybersecurity Regulation, COPPA, and the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act.

Ms. Bird has extensive experience working with cloud-based service providers and users of SaaS solutions. She works with clients to develop and negotiate core commercial agreements including master service agreements, subscription agreements, and other technology licensing arrangements with underlying security, privacy, and intellectual property concerns. She helps clients to develop website documentation, including privacy policies, terms and conditions, and acceptable use policies.

Ms. Bird is a lecturer on Privacy and IT Risk Management for Columbia University’s Master of Science in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program and is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She has co-chaired the privacy subcommittee of the Women in the Profession Committee of the New York City Bar Association and has been a member of the Grants Advisory Committee of the New York Women’s Foundation. Ms. Bird was also the former co-lead of Privacy Advisory Services at CohnReznick LLP.

Ms. Bird has served on the parent advisory board of The Allen-Stevenson School.
